Top 5 Misconceptions about EAE

Image
Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) applications take place this month. If you have made the decision to apply for one of our 44 courses, great! But before you hit the submit button, take note of these five common misconceptions about EAE, and pay extra attention to your application! 1) If you reject your first choice (if offered), the poly/s in the second and third choice will make an offer No this is not true. If your first choice is offered and you reject it, you will not be getting an offer from your second and third choices. 2) As long as you are accepted, your place is guaranteed No, your place is not guaranteed. This is a conditional offer, and this means that you will still need to meet the minimum entry requirements (MER) of the course you are applying for and obtain a net ELR2B2 score of 26 or better. It takes the pressure off taking your O levels and having to score the best grades to compete for a place, but you still need to meet the minimum grades. 3) You must submit 3 cho...

Top 5 Ways to Ace Your EAE Application

Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) applications take place this month. If, for some reason, you are not confident about getting into your dream poly course with your O-Levels or Nitec results, this is going to be your best bet to secure that spot in the poly course you really want. You see, the EAE is not about academic results but rather interviewers  look for people who have the interest and aptitude for these courses! Polys can admit up to 15.0% of their total intake via EAE, and the best thing is, you only need to meet the minimum entry requirements (MER). Yass! Want to ace your EAE application? Take note of these points. 1) 600-Character write-up (Aptitude and Interest) The 600-Character write-up includes spacing and punctuation, so keep your piece short and sweet. So you want to be sure to express your interest in the fi...

Meet Vivien Wee ! She is a year 1 student in Nanyang Polytechnic, studying Mass Media Management. She got into NYP through the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) before she finished her O levels! If you are considering applying for EAE, why not hear from Vivien herself? 1. Tell us more about yourself and why did you choose to join NYP through EAE? I was a Normal Academic student from Beatty Secondary School and I completed my O levels in 2016. I was in the National Cadet Corp (Air) in secondary school. Since young, my friends and family have been telling me about NYP. My closest cousin, uncle, and my secondary school seniors and friends were from NYP. Personally, I feel that NYP is like a family. NYPians are accepting of people and will not judge others based on looks, disability, studies and family background. NYP has this family warmth and I feel loved by my peers in NYP. Additionally, NYP is conveniently located near Yio Chu Kang MRT station, which is 5 stations away from my home. So i...

Know What You Want Before Os

Sock Hong on her graduation day Most secondary 4 and 5 students would be looking forward to a long holiday after finishing their O levels, but not students who applied for Direct Polytechnic Admission (DPA) before their O levels. One such student who had chosen this route is Seah Sock Hong, who graduated from NYP this year with a Diploma in Molecular Biotechnology with Merit. She is also a bioMeriux gold medal winner and one of the top students in her course. Sock Hong has chosen to enter polytechnic through the DPA route as it guarantees her a spot even before her O levels and hence she felt that she was under less pressure during her examination. She chose to take up the Diploma in Molecular Biotechnology (DMB) as she has always been passionate about science, and has liked it since primary school. Sock Hock believes that all knowledge of science cannot be attained from just textbooks, and that a polytechnic will provide real life experiences through practical lessons and intern...
